(Baonghean.vn) - Realizing the strong market demand for clean pork, Ms. Le Thi Hang's family in Hamlet 15B, Nghi Kieu Commune, Nghi Loc District boldly invested in raising pork according to food safety standards; supplying 18 tons of live pigs each year, earning a profit of 300 million VND/year.

2013, husband and wifenMs. Le Thi Hang (Hamlet 15B, Nghi Kieu Commune) boldly received 1 hectare of highland in front of her garden, invested 100 million VND to build a barn. For the first batch, she chose 70 breeding pigs to raise.

However, due to lack of technical knowledge of care and disease prevention, her family suffered losses in the first batch of pigs due to disease. Struggling to find a solution, Ms. Hang proactively searched for documents on the internet, books and newspapers, visited farm models; and participated in training to learn about animal husbandry experience.

Ms. Hang always cleans the feeding trough system, drinking troughs, and barn before feeding the pigs.

After mastering the knowledge and techniques of raising livestock, she saved on investment costs for breeding by choosing to buy breeding animals from households in the village. This method not only reduces the initial investment costs but also selects good breeding animals. Feed for the pigs is mainly mixed from agricultural by-products such as: Corn, mixed with rice bran, banana leaves, and water spinach to increase fiber.

Pig feed is mainly mixed from agricultural by-products such as corn, bran, banana trees, and vegetables, so the meat quality is firm and safe.

Because they are raised with agricultural by-products, the meat is firm and fragrant, so it is very popular in the market. Pigs from Ms. Hang's family farm are all pre-ordered by traders when they are ready to be sold.

On average, every 4 months, 100 pigs are sold per batch (equivalent to 6 tons of live pigs). The selling price of live pigs at the farm is from 52,000 VND/kg. After deducting expenses, each batch of pigs earns her approximately 100 million VND in profit. In the whole year, Ms. Hang's family pig farm sells 18 tons of live pigs, earning a profit of 300 million VND.

Sharing the secret to success from the pig farming model, Ms. Hang said: It is necessary to follow the correct technical process from the stage of selecting breeds, caring for them, and preventing diseases. Before releasing the breeds, it is necessary to clean the barn floor and disinfect it with formalin. The barn system needs to be cool in the summer and warm in the winter. During the farming process, it is necessary to vaccinate fully to prevent diseases. After each batch of pigs, it is necessary to clean the barn and sprinkle lime powder for disinfection.

Ms. Hang's family plans to invest in building another farm, increasing the total herd to 300 pigs; to provide a source of clean pork for farmers in and outside the commune.
