Excited volunteer activities, environmental sanitation, cleaning the sea

(Baonghean.vn) - On June 19, many localities across the province were bustling with volunteer and environmental sanitation activities.

*Morning of June 19, District People's CommitteeNghi LocIn coordination with the Women's Union and the District Youth Union, the campaign to clean up the sea in 7 coastal and marine communes was launched in response to the campaign to clean up the sea and the Vietnam Sea and Islands Week in 2016.

Youth Union members and women's union of Nghi Tien commune launched a campaign to clean up 6.7km of beach.

More than 1,500 youth union members and women's union members from Nghi Yen, Nghi Tien, Nghi Thiet, Nghi Quang, Nghi Xuan, Phuc Tho and Nghi Thai communes collected waste and scrap along the 15 km long beach in the district. After 1 day of cleaning the marine environment, nearly 10 tons of waste were collected and transported for disposal.

*Also on the morning of June 19, District Youth UnionHung NguyenOrganize dredging of Gia Diem - O Ga canal passing through Hung Xuan commune.

Hundreds of Hung Nguyen youth union members dredged canals with local people.

250 youth union members from 23 communes and towns carried out dredging with a total length of 500 m, the volume of mud and waste dredged was about 1,000 m3. The youth project will help ensure environmental cleanliness, timely supply of irrigation water for summer-autumn production in 2016 and flood control during the flood season in Hung Xuan and Hung Lam communes. This is a meaningful work, promoting the pioneering and volunteering role of the youth, contributing together with farmers to effectively implement drought prevention work.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, the youth union members cleaned and cleared the 3km road from Tan Dong hamlet intersection to Dong Lau intersection. On this occasion, the commune union also presented 6 gifts to 6 poor, disadvantaged, and excellent students in the commune, each worth 300,000 VND.
