Improving the effectiveness of compulsory drug rehabilitation work

(Baonghean.vn) – On the afternoon of August 12, the Provincial People's Committee had a working session with the Provincial Department of Social Evils Prevention (PCTNXH) on the results of implementing PCTNXH work in the area.

After 4 years of operation (2012-2016), the Department of Social Crime Prevention has coordinated with localities to establish records and provide compulsory drug rehabilitation for over 3,450 subjects; reintegrate into the community for 2,757 subjects; provide voluntary drug rehabilitation at centers for 909 subjects and community-based drug rehabilitation for nearly 3,500 subjects; and has worked with functional forces to detect and organize the destruction of hundreds of cases related to social evils... actively contributing to the stability of social order.

However, the work of social protection still faces many difficulties, especially compulsory drug rehabilitation at the Centers; Vocational training and job creation for the subjects are still limited; The effectiveness of drug rehabilitation and prostitution prevention is not sustainable...

At the meeting, the leaders of the Department of Social Affairs proposed that the Provincial People's Committee resolve a number of issues: Add more staff; Provide funding for the Department to soon have a working office; Resolve the backlog of allowance payments, and attract special staff for contract workers working at centers with drug rehabilitation functions.

Comrade Le Xuan Dai requested to strengthen inspection work to help drug rehabilitation centers fulfill their targets.

Concluding the working session, comrade Le Xuan Dai acknowledged the efforts of the Department in the fight against social evils; at the same time, noted a number of key tasks such as: Need to advise on the issuance of a project to transfer drug rehabilitation centers under the management of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; Coordinate with localities to better implement the establishment of records for drug rehabilitation subjects; Promote information and propaganda work to create changes in people's awareness in social evils prevention work; Strengthen inspection work to help drug rehabilitation centers complete drug rehabilitation targets.

Regarding the recommendations of the Department, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested relevant departments and branches to promptly review and submit a report for priority resolution.
