Dien Chau replicates one-variety rice fields

(Baonghean.vn) - From the success of the single-variety rice field in Dien Loc, Dien Tan (Dien Chau) in the spring crop of 2016, this year's summer-autumn crop and the spring crop of 2017, Dien Chau is planning to expand to many other communes such as Dien Lien, Dien Hanh, Dien Loc, Dien Tan....

Since the spring crop of 2016, 60 hectares of Dien Loc Agricultural Cooperative have been structured to grow only Thai Xuyen 111 hybrid rice. The result was surprising when Dien Loc farmers harvested a yield 8 quintals/hectare higher than other areas. After the success of the model, Dien Loc continued to build a field with only one variety in this summer-autumn crop.

Mr. Dau Ngoc An - Head of Dien Loc Cooperative shared: "Up to today, our locality has succeeded in planting one variety in the field. In this summer-autumn crop, we built a field of one Thien Uu variety with 8 purebred rice varieties and are determined to direct success".

The 1-rice-variety field in Dien Tan has an area of ​​55 hectares. In the spring crop of 2016, VT04 variety was planted with a yield of nearly 8 tons/hectare, and the selling price was 700,000 VND/quintal, 150,000 VND/quintal higher than the normal rice price. In the summer-autumn crop of 2016, the commune continued to plant the pure rice variety Thien Uu 8, which is a high-quality pure rice variety. This is the second crop that Dien Tan farmers have intensively cultivated the 1-rice-variety field model. People are very excited by the economic efficiency it brings.

In the spring crop of 2016, Dien Chau successfully tested 2 field models of growing only one rice variety on an area of ​​110 hectares. In practice, the yield was significantly higher, about 5 - 8%, reaching 8 tons/1ha, nearly 1 ton/ha higher than the average of the whole district.

The highlight of the single-variety rice field is that it is easy to care for and prevent pests and diseases, making it convenient for machinery to harvest. At the same time, it creates favorable conditions for the synchronous application of scientific and technical advances, attracting businesses to participate in product consumption. The success of the model is an important premise to create momentum for Dien Chau's agricultural sector to have new breakthroughs.
