Hanoi capital region planning includes 9 provinces

On the morning of August 11, the Ministry of Construction coordinated with units to announce the decision on approving the adjustment of the construction planning of the Hanoi capital region to 2030 and vision to 2050.

Accordingly, the Hanoi capital region will be expanded from 6 provinces (planned in 2008) to 9 surrounding provinces, including Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Ha Nam, Hoa Binh and 3 newly added provinces: Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen and Bac Giang. The region has a total area of ​​over 24,000km2, with a population of about 23 million people by 2030.

According to Mr. Ngo Trung Hai - Director of the National Institute of Urban and Rural Planning (Ministry of Construction), the Hanoi capital region is identified as a comprehensive economic development region, with a national political and administrative center, a major center of culture, education, science and technology, economy and international transactions of the whole country.

The highlight of the region is that in Hanoi, major national financial and commercial centers will be formed (North Red River Financial Center; fair center; West Lake administrative, commercial, and cultural center); high-tech research and training zones (Hoa Lac High-Tech Park; Hanoi National University in Hoa Lac); major cultural and historical centers (Thang Long Citadel; Ba Vi National Park)...

Meanwhile, Hai Duong, Hung Yen and Ha Nam provinces will promote the advantage of accessing the gateway and the coastal transport system (Hanoi - Pho Noi - Hai Duong - Hai Phong corridor), the economic triangle south of Hanoi (Hung Yen - Dong Van - Phu Ly).

Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen and Bac Giang are the gateway regions between the capital Hanoi and the midland and mountainous regions of the North.
