The first bombing targeted a car in the commercial district of Baghdal al-Jadeeda (New Baghdad), in the east of the capital. The car exploded, killing 15 people and wounding 50.
The second incident was a suicide bombing targeting the army headquarters in Taji, north of Baghdad. According to Iraqi police, 7 soldiers were killed and 20 were wounded.
The cause of the two bombings is likely to be IS's retaliation when the Iraqi Government is carrying out campaigns to expel the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) from Fallujah, the IS's 'den' located west of Baghdad.
