Funeral held for 2 leaders of Yen Bai province with high-level funeral ceremony

On August 18, Yen Bai Provincial Party Secretary Pham Duy Cuong and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council and Head of the Organization Committee of Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee Ngo Ngoc Tuan were shot dead. The Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Yen Bai province decided to hold a high-level funeral for the two comrades.

On the afternoon of August 18, at the Provincial Party Committee Hall, Yen Bai province held a press conference on the murder that occurred at the Provincial Party Committee Office and the Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee. Comrade Pham Thi Thanh Tra - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the press conference.

Attending the press conference were comrades in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Committee of the People's Council, People's Committee, leaders of Yen Bai Provincial Police and leaders and reporters of 31 press agencies inside and outside the province.

At the press conference, comrade Pham Thi Thanh Tra gave an overview of the incident. Accordingly, implementing the working program, on the morning of August 18, the Yen Bai Provincial People's Council held the 2nd session at the Provincial Party Committee Hall. Before the opening, two key leaders of the province, the Provincial Party Committee Secretary and the Chairman of the People's Council, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Committee, were seriously injured by Do Cuong Minh - Head of the Provincial Forest Protection Department.

After discovering the incident, the provincial leaders urgently directed the two provincial leaders and the subject to be taken to the provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment, and at the same time requested Bach Mai Hospital to support the emergency team. However, due to severe injuries, the subject passed away at 13:05.

Immediately afterwards, the province directed the police forces to block off and protect the scene and key points in the province. The Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee held a meeting to assign tasks to provincial leaders; directed districts, towns and cities to grasp the situation firmly to avoid passivity and loss of social order and safety, to do a good job of orienting ideology, mobilizing the masses to stabilize the situation, and to avoid causing public panic.

Comrade Pham Thi Thanh Tra informed the press agencies: Immediately after the incident, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc was present in Yen Bai province to direct the settlement of the incident. The Prime Minister requested the leaders of Yen Bai province to remain calm, united, and focused on directing the maintenance of all activities of agencies and organizations, not to disrupt operations. Units must fulfill their tasks; Maintain political security, social order and safety in the area, both focusing on directing the assurance of security and order and directing the prevention of storm No. 3, minimizing damage caused by natural disasters; Do a good job of information and propaganda to orient public opinion. Conduct timely encouragement to the families and relatives of the leaders.

At the press conference, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Thi Thanh Tra and Major General Dang Tran Chieu - Director of the Provincial Police Department directly answered and clarified a number of issues related to the incident and thanked the press agencies for their interest in the province.
