Hyundai kills Genesis Coupe
The Korean automaker has removed the coupe from its product line after the 2016 model year and its replacement is expected to arrive after 2017.
The 2016 Genesis Coupe will mark the end of the rear-wheel-drive sports coupe, Christine Henley, Hyundai's product PR manager, told Autoblog. It will be replaced by "something new" that better fits into the new Genesis brand's product portfolio, meaning a luxury model.

“A new, more stylish and luxurious coupe, in line with the new Genesis brand, is in development,” according to Henley.
Previous information circulating predicted that the new product will use a 3.3 turbo engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 4-wheel drive system. The inspiration for the "replacement" may come from the Hyundai HND-9 Sports Coupe Concept introduced a few years ago.
The newly established luxury brand Genesis currently sells two products: the midsize G80 sedan and the G90 sedan. A sporty, luxurious coupe could fill the gap between the two models and help the brand compete better.
