The match between Chelsea and second-division side Bristol Rovers saw five goals scored between the 29th and 48th minutes. Marseille's $50 million signing, Michy Batshuayi, scored a brace in the first half, including a volley to open the scoring. Between the Belgian striker's two goals, Chelsea also had a strike from Victor Moses.

Bristol Rovers' efforts made Chelsea sweat at Stamford Bridge. Peter Hartley scored a beautiful free-kick to reduce the deficit in the first half before Ellis Harrison scored the second from the penalty spot.

Throughout the second half, Bristol Rovers had chances to equalize, but Harrison's shot hit the post. Chelsea secured their place in the third round of the League Cup with a 3-2 victory.

This was Batshuayi's first official match in Chelsea's starting lineup, and he did not disappoint manager Antonio Conte. The 22-year-old striker maintained his high form after scoring his first Premier League goal, helping Chelsea beat Watford 2-1 last Saturday.

In the match against Bristol Rovers, manager Conte benched several key players. However, the difference in class still allowed Chelsea to secure the victory. Young midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek delivered an impressive performance, making significant contributions to both of Batshuayi's goals.

Playing in the same match last night, Liverpool put behind them the 0-2 defeat against Burnley in the Premier League last weekend. Visiting Championship side Burton Albion was a good opportunity for Liverpool to regain their spirits, and they did just that, scoring five goals against the home side.

Divock Origi opened the scoring in the 15th minute before Firmino doubled the visitors' lead in the first half. In the second half, an own goal from Tom Naylor and a brace from Daniel Sturridge sealed a five-star victory for Liverpool.

Liverpool's attacking prowess was quickly showcased against Burton Albion, who had just been promoted to the Championship for the first time this season. Liverpool could have won by a larger margin if they had capitalized on the opportunities created by mistakes from the Burton Albion defense.

Other teams that advanced to the third round of the League Cup after last night's matches include Premier League teams Crystal Palace, Everton, Swansea, and Stoke. Meanwhile, Watford were surprisingly eliminated at home after losing 1-2 to second-division side Gillingham.
