Flood and landslide warnings issued for mountainous areas of Nghe An province.

(Baonghean.vn) - Warning from August 11th to August 19th,Flash floods on small rivers and streams, flooding in low-lying areas, and landslides are likely to occur in the mountainous regions of Nghe An.

According to the weather forecast issued at 4:30 PM on August 10th by the North Central Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Station, the low-pressure trough with its axis passing through the Northern region is currently tending to strengthen into a Tropical Convergence Zone within the next 24 hours, connecting with a low-pressure vortex over the Northern region developing from the ground up to 5000 meters.

The tropical convergence zone, connected to a low-pressure vortex over Northern Vietnam, is active and will persist for several more days. At higher altitudes, the subtropical high-pressure ridge is encroaching westward.

Forecasts indicate that from August 11th to 19th, there will be rain in the North Central region, with moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms in some areas of the midland and mountainous western regions of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces.

Specifically, from August 14th to 17th, the northern part of Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces will experience moderate to heavy rain, with some areas experiencing very heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The total rainfall during this period is expected to be between 150 and 250 mm, with some areas receiving over 300 mm. From August 11th to 19th, 2016, a flood is expected on rivers in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces.

Flood levels rose by 3 to 6 meters in the upper reaches of rivers in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces, and by 1 to 3 meters in the lower reaches. During this flood, water levels on the Buoi River at Kim Tan were at Level 1, while the Ma River at Ly Nhan and the Ca River at Nam Dan were below Level 1.

The North Central Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Station issues a warning.,Flash floods on small rivers and streams, flooding in low-lying areas, and landslides are likely to occur in the districts of Tuong Duong, Ky Son, Que Phong, Quy Chau, Con Cuong, Anh Son, Quy Hop, Do Luong, and Thanh Chuong.
