Businesswoman leaves city to return to village to do charity work

(Baonghean.vn) - Having a successful and fulfilling life in Vinh City, businesswoman Nguyen Thi Kim Cuc still decided to return to her hometown to live with only one thought in mind to contribute and repay her debt of gratitude to her homeland.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Cuc is contributing ideas to the Party Cell Secretary to find solutions to combat drought for summer-autumn rice.

Born in 1954, graduated from Hanoi University of Construction, held many positions and worked in state-owned enterprises, and opened a private enterprise in Vinh City. But after retiring, she and her husband returned to their hometown to live in Thach Son hamlet, Dong Van commune, Thanh Chuong.

With her dynamic nature, she actively worked with comrades in the Party Committee and the Front Committee of Thach Son hamlet to propagate and mobilize people to implement the policies of the Party, the State and local regulations.

Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, despite their old age, the couple actively and fully participated in all working days with the people in the hamlet: cleaning the environment, clearing village roads and alleys, leveling the ground, participating in consulting, supervising, and renovating works in the area such as Ong Nen Temple, building the hamlet cultural center, roads, etc.

In particular, her family donated 46.5 million VND along with several other households to upgrade and build a 256-meter-long internal road, 5 meters wide at the foot of the road, 4 meters wide on the road surface, to solve the muddy and difficult traveling situation for the people.

Ms. Cuc is walking on the field road that she contributed money to upgrade and renew.

She also contributed 5 million VND to the women's association fund; contributed 6.4 million VND to buy furniture for Ong Nen temple - a spiritual work of the community in the area; contributed 15 million VND to build some works, concretize 250m² of the community cultural house yard to serve sports activities for children in the neighborhood.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Cuc is also talented and passionate about composing and performing cultural and artistic works and is a member of the Vietnam Poetry Club and the Vietnam Poetry Group. She was honored by the Voice of Vietnam Radio and read poetry on the radio. Her poems focus on praising the Party, Uncle Ho, the homeland and the new rural construction movement.

Comrade Tran Dinh Tuy - Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Van Commune, Thanh Chuong District commented: "In our area, there are many retired cadres, among which Ms. Cuc and her family are shining examples, with many comprehensive contributions. Her words, actions, singing and lyrics have attracted the villagers to the movements. She is a typical example in studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh".

64 years old, 33 years of Party membership, with a son-in-law and grandchildren, a life of diligence and dynamism, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Cuc has all the conditions to enjoy her old age. When asked why she went against common sense, she said: "Young people living far from home always miss each other. This is the time to repay their love for their homeland. Moreover, as a Party member, I only wish to contribute and strive with everyone to build a civilized and prosperous homeland."
