Officially dismiss People's Council delegate Nguyen Thi Nguyet Huong

With 100% of delegates present in agreement, the 15th Hanoi People's Council passed a resolution to dismiss Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Huong.

This afternoon (August 3), at the 2nd session of the 15th term, the Hanoi People's Council discussed and resolved to dismiss Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Huong from the position of People's Council delegate. The reason for her dismissal was violations related to nationality and asset declaration.

Presenting the report on the dismissal of Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Huong from the City People's Council, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam, Head of the Legal Committee of the City People's Council, said that Ms. Huong was elected as a delegate to the 14th National Assembly but was not recognized as a delegate.

According to the Standing Committee of the People's Council, on July 15, a representative of the Subcommittee on Personnel and Complaints and Denunciations of the National Election Council worked with Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Huong. During the working process, Ms. Huong admitted to having Maltese nationality and having foreign accounts and shares in Malta funds.


However, in the candidacy dossier for the 14th National Assembly and the 15th Hanoi People's Council (term 2016 - 2021), the asset declaration section states "no foreign money or assets".

Then, on July 17, 100% of the members of the National Election Council voted not to recognize Ms. Nguyet Huong as a member of the 14th National Assembly. According to the Law on Organization of Local Government, Ms. Huong does not meet the standards and is not worthy of the voters' trust.

After the presentation of the Head of the Legal Committee and the Secretariat, 100% of the delegates present at the meeting (96/96) agreed with the Resolution to dismiss Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Huong.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet Huong (born in 1970) is Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, General Director of Vietnam Investment and Development Group (VID Group), Member of the Central Presidium of the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association, Vice President of the Hanoi Industry and Trade Association, a member of the 12th and 13th National Assembly and a member of the Economic Committee of the 13th National Assembly./.
