(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of August 27, Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam, Director of Nghe An Orthopedic Trauma Hospital, said that the hospital had just successfully operated on a case of meningocele. This is a rare disease, and the surgical process is extremely complicated.

Previously, on August 19, the hospital admitted patient Tran Van Giang (born in 1954, residing in My Son commune, Do Luong district) with a spinal tumor in the coccyx measuring about 30x25cm. The patient was paralyzed in both legs, had incontinence and could not lie on his back...

The patient was diagnosed with myelomeningocele, a tumor that had been present since birth and had grown over time.

On August 24, a team of 5 people led by Dr. Tran Van Bien (Head of Spinal Neurosurgery Department) performed a 4-hour surgery. As a result, the tumor weighing 4kg was successfully removed.

As of today, 3 days after the surgery, the patient is recovering well. It is expected that the patient will be discharged in about half a month.
