Solar-powered plane lands safely across Atlantic
(Baonghean.vn) - A plane running solely on solar energy landed safely in Seville, Spain today, June 23. The flight departed from New York, USA and crossed the Atlantic Ocean in three days, marking one of the longest flights by a plane using solar energy.

The plane, named Solar Impulse 2, is a single-seat aircraft piloted by Swiss pilot Bertrand Piccard.
Solar Impulse 2 took off from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York at 2:30 a.m. local time on June 20.
The 71-hour flight was the 15th leg of the first round-the-world journey by a solar-powered aircraft by pilots Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg.
The journey aims to draw the world's attention to solar energy - a clean and promising source of energy -.
With a flying speed of 70km/h, equivalent to the average speed of a car, the solar-powered aircraft Solar Impulse 2 has more than 170,000 solar panels integrated on a wingspan of 72m, longer than a Boeing 747 (68.5m).
