Do Cung Ferry connects Cat Van commune (Thanh Chuong district) and Trung Son commune (Do Luong district) on the main road connecting the upper Thanh Chuong district including 8 communes of Cat Van, Phong Thinh, Thanh Nho, Thanh Hoa, Thanh My, Thanh Lien, Thanh My, Thanh Duc with Do Luong district town and Trung Son, Thuan Son, Da Son communes.

Currently, the ferry terminal has two boats from Cat Van and Trung Son communes, taking turns running continuously every day, carrying about 500 - 700 passengers to meet the needs of travel and goods circulation.

Although there are many people passing by, the service price is still high. According to Mrs. Bui Thi Van in the town and Nguyen Thi Hue in Hamlet 7, Cat Van commune, who sell vegetables and fruits, each person has to pay a fee of 3,000 VND to cross the ferry, if adding a motorbike it is 8,000 VND, carrying bulky goods is 10 - 12,000 VND/trip, during flood season the price increases by one and a half to double.

Do Cung connects Thanh Chuong and Do Luong districts, the construction of the bridge is becoming urgent.

According to Mr. Dang Dinh Hang in Hamlet 7, Cat Van Commune (Thanh Chuong), the ferry owner said: "Because of the large number of people passing by, the steep terrain, the wharf often being eroded and filled with sediment after each flood, and the lack of funds for repairs, Do Cung wharf is also a place where accidents often occur."

Although according to the Department of Transport, Do Cung ferry has been built as a safe ferry model, ensuring standards for operation, the risk of accidents still exists, especially during the rainy season. The travel demand of people in Cat Ngan area is very high, for many years the people and authorities here have longed for a permanent bridge. Therefore, the information that the Prime Minister directed to add the construction of Do Cung bridge, Nghe An province to the BOT project to expand National Highway 1, section South of Ben Thuy bridge - bypassing Ha Tinh city is being interested and awaited by the people.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Transport to agree with the People's Committee of Nghe An province on the investment plan to build Do Cung bridge across Lam river and decide to add the construction item of Do Cung bridge to the BOT project to expand National Highway 1, section South of Ben Thuy bridge - Ha Tinh city bypass, ensuring the connection and effectiveness of the additional item for the project, not increasing the total investment, not affecting the financial plan of the project.
