Oil slick discovered in the sea area where Su-30MK2 aircraft crashed
(Baonghean.vn)- Search forces have located the Su-30MK2 aircraft that crashed in the waters of Nghe An. In particular, they have discovered an oil slick, suspected to be from the crashed aircraft.
It was dark, the two helicopters had to temporarily stop searching, while the rescue team continued to search around the area where the oil slick was discovered. It is expected that tomorrow, the search will be intensified with the participation of frogmen, black box detectors, rescue ships, fisheries control...

At 15:30,Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Cong Luc - Deputy Commander of the Border Guard Command of Nghe An province - said that the rescue team had just discovered an oil slick on the sea west of Mat island, suspected to be the location of the plane crash.
By early afternoon on June 14, search and rescue forces had located the plane crash site near Hon Mat Island, about 30-40km from Cua Lo Town, Nghe An.
Authorities have yet to determine the exact location of the crashed plane. "Signs of the plane have been found," said Mr. Luc.

Previously, Colonel Ha Tan Tien, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Commander of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command, said that currently, the Nghe An Provincial Military Command is mobilizing forces to go out to sea to search.
Information said, the Su-30MK2 was on a training flight from Sao Vang Airport, Tho Xuan, Thanh Hoa. When it reached the Nghe An sea, it lost contact with the radar screen.

The Nghe An Provincial Military Command has dispatched three ships and soldiers to the sea to search. At sea, dozens of fishing boats from Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces are also being mobilized to search for the whereabouts of the crashed plane.

Before the incident, the commander had given permission for the planes and pilots to take off and carry out the flights as planned. However, at 7:50 a.m., during the following flights, the command lost contact with one of the Su-30MK2 planes. It is likely that the plane had an accident at sea.
Currently, the Air Defense - Air Force Service is organizing a search for the above Su-30MK2 aircraft.

Around the area where the plane crashed, there are 6 ships of the Coast Guard, Squadron 137, Navy Region 1, Provincial Military Command, Squadron 2 - Border Guard and many fishing boats of fishermen continuing to search.
Vietnam's Su-30MK2 is a product of the Komsomolsk-on-Amur complex and is a type of aircraft that performs sea-based attack missions. The Su-30MK2 aircraft is 21.9 m long; has a wingspan of 14.7 m; is 6.36 m high; has an empty weight of 24,900 kg, and a maximum take-off weight of 34,500 kg. This aircraft is equipped with the SUV-VEP multi-purpose aiming complex including the N001 and OLS-30 radars with an air target search range of about 150 km, detecting aircraft carriers and speedboats from distances of 250 km and 70 km respectively. The Su-30MK can carry up to 8 tons of weapons, distributed on 12 hardpoints, including air-to-air, air-to-ground, air-to-sea missiles, bombs and rockets. In addition, the aircraft also has a 30mm GSh-30-1 automatic cannon with 150 rounds of ammunition. In addition, the Su-30MK2's radar can track 10 targets and control missiles to destroy 2 targets (1 far and 1 near) at the same time. The engine equipped for the Su-30MK2 is the Lyulka AL-31F with a thrust of 123 kN each, giving a maximum speed of Mach 2 (2,120 km/h), a range of 3,000 km, a ceiling of 17,300 m, and a climbing speed of 305 m/s. |
