Stories of retired people who "suddenly became... millionaires"
Recently, the “suddenly very rich” syndrome has emerged. Some officials, after many years of service, have a pitifully “low” asset declaration, causing National Assembly Representative Duong Trung Quoc to bitterly exclaim: “Reading the asset declaration, I feel so sorry for our officials. Everyone is poor, the state provides housing, and their salaries are meager… If officials are so poor, how can the people be rich!?”

I thought that the story of former Government Inspector General Tran Van Truyen with his huge assets after retirement had made the world "crazy and possessed", but now, public opinion has been stirred up by two pieces of information from two people, although their positions are smaller, their assets are not necessarily inferior. They are Mr. Hoang Sy Binh, former Director of Thanh Hoa Department of Health and Mr. Tran Khieu, former Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee.
According to Dan Viet newspaper citing Thanh Tra newspaper, the article“Just "landed" and revealed the "huge" assets of former Director of Thanh Hoa Department of Health Hoang Sy Binh" said, currently Mr. Binh and his wife own, are in charge of, and hold a huge real estate asset.
Recently, Mr. Binh has just broken ground to build a huge villa in a prime location with 3 facades. According to local people, the land price of the villa alone is nearly 10 billion VND, the construction and interior decoration costs are also up to about 10 billion VND.
Very “deliberately”, this article also has a passage: “Why was it that at the end of his term, when he “landed”, Mr. Binh had so many real estate properties “exposed”? Where did this money come from? Was there any negativity in Mr. Binh agreeing to recruit 3,721 people without reporting to the Provincial Chairman and appointing a series of officials in violation of regulations?”…
Speaking softly, if according to the "valuation" of Mr. Tran Trong Duc when he was the Chairman of the Hanoi City Inspection Committee, "civil servants worth hundreds of millions (public opinion still says it's that little)", then how many billions of dong is 3,721 people?
The second story, in the article “Former provincial chairman opens 15 billion VND drinking place for female deputy head of department” also published in Dan Viet newspaper, has a paragraph: “Mr. Tran Khieu said that in addition to the drinking place under construction, he and Ms. THL also have a restaurant in Duyen Hai district (Tra Vinh) and a company specializing in property auctions. According to Mr. Khieu, these properties are in Ms. THL’s name but are also his, because he is the person behind them.”
Then in this very newspaper, of course Mr. Tran Khieu… denied it!?
Reading the above information, I suddenly want to… "suddenly".
I don't know why, but since the movie "Suddenly Want to Cry", there have been so many "sudden" things happening in our country.
Such as "suddenly intellectual" even though he didn't study anything, suddenly got a doctorate.
Then "suddenly promoted", among the "young and talented", with no achievements other than causing loss and destruction but promoted rapidly.
Then "suddenly he became younger", a few years younger when he was about to retire, to the point that the eldest brother was younger than the youngest sister.
There is also the story of "sudden mental illness" after corruption was discovered, so there is a certificate of mental illness...
Everyone is poor, the state provides housing, and the salary is meager… If officials are so poor, how can the people be rich!?”
But surprisingly, just a few months after retirement, many of them suddenly became incredibly rich. Their properties were worth tens, even hundreds of billions of dong. Their houses were like castles. Their land was so vast that the storks were tired from flying. Sorry, the cars ran out of gas, but their houses were all silver and gold land in the city, and no one went back to their hometowns to let the storks and herons fly around.
Sometimes I suddenly want to ask why do they suddenly get rich so quickly?
Playing the lottery, winning the jackpot is definitely not. Selling illegal goods is definitely not. Gambling is even more unlikely. But suddenly becoming incredibly rich, incredibly rich like Lord Hoa in the Qing Dynasty in China, not playing around. Who knows, maybe this “unusual wealth” is also commendable because of their real talent?
If that is true, it is a great loss for them because when they were in office, they were busy taking care of the country and the people, and had no time. When they retired for a few months, they had time to make tens, even hundreds of billions of dong right away.
With such talent, if only they had given up their positions and gone into business a few decades ago, our country might have had dozens, hundreds of USD billionaires.
Oh, how nice it would be if people knew this secret to "suddenly becoming rich".
That said, I don't know. Because maybe they've been rich for a long time, but they're rich in a mysterious, oh, I mean, secret way.
In short, if what the above newspapers said is true, I hope that the authorities will step in to clarify, most importantly to “clear their names” because “suddenly becoming rich” like that is considered a death sentence. I also hope that it is a real asset thanks to “nail rot” or at least a real “gift from a foster sister”. Just worry, it is a type of asset… “suddenly”!
But if you guys "suddenly become rich" thanks to that "suddenness", then the people will suffer for a long time because "there are many Hoa Than officials, the people have many... Chi Dau", right?
