(Baonghean.vn) -In recent years, many exemplary individuals have emerged in Pha Danh commune (Ky Son district), demonstrating their ability to overcome difficulties and excel in production, contributing to poverty reduction efforts in the locality. Among them, Mr. Cut Van Hoa in Pha Khom village is a prime example.

Recognizing that the backward, small-scale, and fragmented production practices of the Khơ Mú people were the root cause of persistent poverty, in 2005, Mr. Cụt Văn Hòa in Phà Khốm village, Phà Đánh commune, decided to invest in large-scale cattle breeding. Thanks to the application of proper techniques, the herd of cattle grew well, and by 2010, he had sold his first batch, earning over 50 million VND.

Thanks to the success of breeding cattle, he continued to invest in more breeds of cattle, and now his family's barn always maintains between 20 and 30 cows. In addition, Mr. Hoa proactively manages and protects over 5 hectares of forest. Taking advantage of his land resources, he grows other short-term crops to sell on the market, increasing his income.

Mr. Cụt Văn Hòa also manages and protects over 5 hectares of forest on the summit of Phà Khốm mountain, where many large trees with diameters ranging from 20 to 35 cm are currently located.

Not only did Mr. Hoa enrich his own family, but he also consistently shared his experience and encouraged other households in the village to follow suit. As a result, many households in Pha Khom village have risen out of poverty. From 100% poverty, the poverty rate in Pha Khom village has now decreased to over 70%; the number of livestock has also increased, from nearly 10 buffaloes and cows in 2005 to nearly 300 in 2015.

A typical example is the household of Mr. Cut Van May in the same village, which was once one of the poorest households in the village. However, thanks to learning cattle farming techniques from Mr. Cut Van Hoa, Mr. May's household has now raised nearly 10 cows, selling them annually and earning a profit of 15 to 20 million VND.

Following Mr. Hoa's example in cattle farming, many families in Pha Khom village have established livestock farms, developing their economy and achieving high economic efficiency.

Speaking about Mr. Cụt Văn Hòa, Ms. Vi Thị Thanh - Deputy Secretary and Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Phà Đánh commune, said: “In Kỳ Sơn in general, and Phà Đánh commune in particular, there are not many people like Mr. Cụt Văn Hòa in Phà Khốm village who overcome difficulties and legitimately become wealthy on their homeland. Mr. Hòa's hard work and diligence are typical examples for the Khơ Mú people to follow. Thanks to the success of Mr. Hòa's livestock farming model, the people in Phà Khốm village have built many family farms and livestock and poultry farms, especially raising the local yellow cattle breed, which yields high economic returns, thereby increasing income and improving their lives.”
