Useful features of air conditioners that are often overlooked

Many people only know how to turn on and off and increase or decrease the temperature of the air conditioner, but in fact the air conditioner has many more uses than that.

1. Set the time (Clock) - Timer (Time on/Time off or On Timer)

This button makes the air conditioner function like a digital clock. When you press the Clock button, the numbers 0:00 in the lower right corner of the display will appear and flash. Simply press the ▲ or + (forward) and ▼ or - (backward) buttons to set the current time, for example 09:06.

Setting the time is to help make future timing more accurate. Note, each time you change the batteries in the remote control, you must set the time again.

The timer function is very convenient to turn the air conditioner on or off at night, so you can sleep through the night without having to get up to turn it off.

2. When to use Auto - Cool - Dry mode

When you press the Mode button and select Auto, the machine will automatically select the most suitable preset program for the outdoor temperature and the current indoor temperature.

If you want to customize it, you can press Mode and choose Dry or Cool mode. Two-way air conditioners have an additional Heat mode. Each time you press the button, the modes will appear in turn.

Dry should be selected when the humidity in the air is high and the temperature is not too hot. Dry is very useful in the humid weather in the North, helping the house to be drier. Dry combined with temperature settings can be used for both summer and winter.

3. Select fan mode

The fan also has Auto, Low, Medium, High modes (or with some controls it will be represented by 1 dot, 3 dots, 5 dots respectively).

Select Auto, the machine will automatically select the most suitable preset program for the outdoor temperature and the current indoor temperature. Select Low, the air conditioner fan will be low. If you want moderate cooling, select Medium fan. For more cooling, select High.

The louder the fan, the more electricity it uses, the louder the air conditioner, and the faster the air in the room and your skin will dry out. Changing the fan speed by one notch will feel like changing the temperature of the air conditioner by one degree Celsius.

If you only consider the fan, with the same equivalent capacity, the air flow through the fan door of the air conditioner will be lower than the air flow through a pure fan. Therefore, to save electricity, you should turn on the air conditioner fan at the lowest mode, with an additional external fan, rather than just turning on the air conditioner fan at the highest mode.

4. Operate at maximum capacity

Most machines have a powerful mode (Powerfull button) when cooling the room. When this button is pressed, the machine reaches maximum capacity. According to some manufacturers, when this button is pressed, the cooling capacity can reach 130%. After 20 minutes, the machine will automatically return to normal operating mode. We can also press the Powerfull button again to turn off maximum capacity operating mode.

5. Night operation (Night or Sleep)

When pressing this button, if in summer cooling mode, the room temperature will increase by one degree Celsius every hour and then remain the same. For example, set to 27 degrees Celsius, press the button, after one hour the temperature will increase to 28 degrees Celsius and after 2 hours to 29 degrees Celsius and stay at this level until the machine stops.

This mode adapts to the fact that your body temperature drops when you go to sleep, and you feel colder after lying still for a while. So the machine automatically raises the temperature so you don't get cold.

6. Function of generating negative ions to soften the air (e-ion)

Normally, when the air conditioner is running, it will create positive ions and burn negative ions in the air, making the air feel dry and stiff. Turning on the e-ion function will create negative ions to help balance the environment, creating a pleasant feeling. This function also helps to filter dust and bacteria in the air.
