Closing ceremony of the 9th National Phu Dong Sports Festival Athletics Tournament in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of August 8, the 9th National Phu Dong Sports Festival Athletics Tournament officially closed.

The 2016 Phu Dong Sports Festival Athletics Tournament had 46 teams participating with more than 600 athletes competing in the following events: long jump, high jump, shot put, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m running, competing for 40 sets of medals in the advanced and amateur categories for men and women.

After 4 days of exciting competition, at the end of the tournament, Hanoi athletics team led with 6 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 1 bronze medal, followed by Ho Chi Minh City team with 5 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 4 bronze medals, and Thanh Hoa team ranked 3rd with 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 4 bronze medals.

The organizing committee representatives awarded medals to athletes with high achievements.

Notably, at the 9th Phu Dong Sports Festival, 7 records were broken in the 1500m women's advanced category by athlete Nguyen Thuy Hanh of the Da Nang athletics team, men's shot put by athlete Dang The Nhat of the Vinh Long team, men's 200m run by Nguyen Dang Khoa and men's 400m high jump by athlete Cao Vo Ngoc Long of the Ho Chi Minh City team, men's 400m run by athlete Nguyen Tung Lam and women's 400m by athlete Hoang Thi Minh Hanh of the Hanoi team, and 4x100m relay also of the Hanoi team.

Nghe An delegation had 31 athletes participating in the competition, won 1 silver medal in the 4x100 relay race, holding 10th place out of 46 participating delegations.
