The UH-72 disappeared from radar at around 10:30 a.m. this morning, 30 minutes after takeoff, said Lieutenant General Somsak Ninbanjerdkun, commander of the Third Military Region, which oversees northern Thailand.
According to Reuters, at that time, the helicopter was on its way back to base in Phitsanuloke city after a flood relief mission near the border with Myanmar.
Among those on board was Major General Nopporn Ruanchan, commander of the 4th Infantry Division.
"The helicopter is still missing," said a military spokesman.
