Mr. Nguyen Hoang Han (60 years old), owner of the used bookstore at 120 Nguyen Van Cu Street, shared: “About 5 years ago, there were more than a dozen used bookstores next to each other here, but now only 5 remain. With the increasing development of science and technology, the used book business yields low profits while the operating costs are quite high, causing many people to abandon the profession and switch to other jobs. However, many people still have a deep affection for used books and therefore continue to operate their shops.”
Ông Nguyễn Hoàng Hân (60 tuổi) chủ tiệm sách cũ 120 Nguyễn Văn Cừ tâm sự: “Khoảng 5 năm trở về trước, nơi đây có hơn chục tiệm sách cũ liền kề nhau, nhưng bây giờ chỉ còn lại 5 tiệm. Khoa học công nghệ ngày càng phát triển, việc kinh doanh sách cũ thu lợi nhuân thấp trong khi chi phí duy trì hoạt động lại khá cao khiến nhiều người bỏ nghề, chuyển sang công việc khác. Tuy vậy nhiều người còn rất nặng lòng với sách cũ nên vẫn duy trì hoạt động của các cửa tiệm”

Chủ tiệm sách cũ Hương Thơ chia sẻ: “Niềm vui mỗi ngày của tôi là được thấy những vị khách đứng say mê trước giá sách lựa chọn và mua cho mình cuốn sách ưng ý. Là được sắp xếp và ngửi mùi vị đặc trưng của những cuốn sách cũ. Là được hướng dẫn và chứng kiến những câu chuyện đời xoay quanh những cuốn sách. Đó không đơn thuần chỉ là kinh doanh mà còn là cái tình được gắn kết bao năm qua”.
Huong Tho, the owner of the used bookstore, shared: “My daily joy comes from seeing customers engrossed in choosing and buying books they like. It's about arranging and smelling the distinctive scent of old books. It's about guiding and witnessing life stories revolving around books. It's not simply about business, but also about the bond that has been forged over the years.”
