Research and arrange the use of young volunteer intellectuals

(Baonghean.vn) – On the morning of August 5, the Central Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union coordinated with the Ministry of Home Affairs to organize a media conference “Young intellectuals participating in socio-economic development”.

Attending the conference were comrades: Vu Dang Minh, Director of the Department of Youth Affairs - Ministry of Home Affairs; Nguyen Anh Tuan, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union and leaders of the Department of Home Affairs, the Standing Committee of the Youth Union of Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Kon Tum provinces.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Le Quang Huy - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Comrade Nguyen Dinh Hung - Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union and representatives of relevant departments and branches.

Nearly 100 young intellectuals and representatives of departments and branches inside and outside the province attended the conference.

Sending young intellectuals to volunteer to work in areas with many socio-economic difficulties is a major policy of the State to increase resources for localities, contribute to economic, cultural and social development, strengthen national defense and security, and improve people's knowledge in key areas, remote and border areas. The pilot project "Selection of 600 excellent young intellectuals with university degrees to work as vice chairmen of commune People's Committees in 62 poor districts" has achieved encouraging results.

Comrade Le Quang Huy - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee assessed the effectiveness of the project.

Implementing the government's project on appointing young intellectuals as commune vice chairmen in poor districts 30a, Nghe An has 26 young people assigned as commune vice chairmen in 03 districts Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Que Phong. Accordingly, many effective models of hunger eradication and poverty reduction have been built and replicated by young intellectuals such as: RAC farm model, black pig farming, Shan snow tea production, black chicken farming... Young intellectuals are also taking the lead in implementing national target programs, participating in building infrastructure, contributing to changing the face of highland areas.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Le Quang Huy - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also mentioned the difficulties in promoting the role of young intellectuals and youth volunteers in the province. Specifically: the assignment and arrangement of work for young intellectuals in some units is not reasonable, so the capacity and strengths of each person have not been fully promoted; financial and infrastructure conditions are still difficult, so many ideas and solutions have not been implemented and replicated; mechanisms and policies for young intellectuals and youth volunteers have not been as expected...

Ms. Luong Thi Oanh, Vice Chairman of Nam Dong Commune, Quan Hoa District, Thanh Hoa Province expressed her concerns at the conference.

To promote the role of the young volunteer intellectuals, in the coming time, it is necessary to strengthen the direction of all levels and sectors related to the arrangement and use of this team. Raise awareness and responsibility in the selection, management and use, and at the same time improve the quality of organization, management and activities of young volunteer intellectuals. Finally, it is necessary to study, perfect and implement well the policy for the young volunteer intellectuals; promptly grasp the difficulties and problems that arise to have a solution suitable to the practical situation.
