Fire broke out in the border area of ​​Nam Dan - Thanh Chuong at 11am on June 12.

At 3am this morning, after being controlled, the fire continued to flare up in some points in the border area. Because the area is large, there are not enough people to keep watch.

Many areas of forest were burned.

Mr. Dinh Xuan Que - Chairman of the District People's Committee said, we mobilized about 400 people to participate in fire fighting, however due to the characteristics of the fire spreading from the top of the hill down, strong southwest wind, and remote residents, the slow detection and rescue of the forces encountered many difficulties.

The forest fire is now under control but in some places, smoke is still rising, the risk of re-ignition is very high.

Notably, while fighting the forest fire, Nam Loc Commune Party Secretary Nguyen Xuan Lanh fell and broke his arm.

Currently, the heat is still intense, smoke is still smoldering in some areas with a very high risk of fire. Therefore, the People's Committee of Nam Dan district is having to maintain forces at the locations with forest fires; mobilizing equipment including many blowers from forest rangers, special-use forest management board, Nam Loc commune, saws to cut the runway...

Forces prepare vehicles to continue rescue.

On Thanh Chuong side, Mr. Bui Quang Nam - Head of Thanh Chuong Forest Ranger Department said that at 3am on June 13, a fire broke out in the forest area of ​​Thanh Lam, Thanh Chuong. The district People's Committee mobilized nearly 200 people including police, military, and Thanh Lam Commune People's Committee to participate in fire fighting. By 10am this morning, the fire spots were extinguished, but the risk of re-ignition was still very high.

At 11am today, forest rangers were still mobilized to guard against forest fires.

It is estimated that several dozen hectares of pine, acacia and eucalyptus forests in both Nam Dan and Thanh Chuong districts were burned.

People of Nam Loc and Nam Dan communes continue to provide supplies.

Previously, at 10am on June 12, a forest fire broke out, the location was determined to be in Khe Huong, the forest area bordering Thanh Lam commune, Thanh Chuong district and Nam Loc commune, Nam Dan district. The burnt forest area included pine and acacia trees.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Dinh Xuan Que - Chairman of Nam Dan District People's Committee said that the risk of forest fires breaking out is still very high, the forces continue to stick to the forest to control and guard against forest fires.

Immediately after receiving information about the fire, the 414th Engineering Brigade - Military Region 4, in coordination with the forest rangers, militia and people of Nam Loc and Nam Thuong, deployed firefighting and forest rescue work.

According to information from the provincial forest management department, the risk of forest fires is very high due to the prolonged hot weather in recent days. Therefore, to protect the forest area during the hot weather, forest owners and forces need to be proactive in forest fire prevention and control./.
