3 suspects in the murder of people watching billiards at Thanh Ha coffee shop surrender

Information about the shooting at Thanh Ha coffee shop in Hung Chau commune, Hung Nguyen district, which seriously injured one person and is currently being treated at Nghe An General Hospital, which occurred on the evening of August 26, has caused a stir in public opinion. Colonel Pham Hoai Nam, Head of the Criminal Police Department (CSHS) of the provincial police, said: The unit has just investigated, clarified and persuaded 3 subjects to surrender, including: Dinh Van Tuan (born in 1986), residing in hamlet 1, Hung Phuc commune; Hoang Van Hien (born in 1981), residing in hamlet 7, Hung Thinh commune, Hung Nguyen district and Ho Sy Bang (born in 1991), residing in hamlet 2, Hung Chinh commune, Vinh city. The subjects are currently being detained for further investigation and expansion of the case.

Three suspects in the case have turned themselves in.

Previously, at around 9:00 p.m. on August 26, the Criminal Police Department received a report stating that a shooting occurred at Thanh Ha Coffee Shop in Hamlet 5, Hung Chau Commune, Hung Nguyen District, leaving one victim seriously injured.

After a quick verification, realizing that the complicated case had signs of being related to a murder with a reckless nature, Colonel Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Director, Head of the Criminal Police Department of the Provincial Police, directly joined the leaders of the Criminal Police Department at the scene; at the same time, mobilized all on-duty forces to quickly coordinate with professional departments and Hung Nguyen District Police to conduct a crime scene investigation and follow the "hot" traces.

Through collecting documents, witnesses said: At about 8:00 p.m. the same day, at Thanh Ha coffee shop, there was a group of young men playing billiards and standing around watching. Due to a sudden conflict with a young man from Vinh City, this group of young men used sticks and chairs to beat the young man. Not stopping there, after he was knocked down, a subject sat on him and pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the back of the head, causing him to lose consciousness.

After committing the crime, the gang quickly got into a car and fled the scene. The victim was taken to Cua Dong General Hospital for emergency treatment and then transferred to Nghe An General Hospital.

After examining the scene, a working group was sent to the hospital to determine the identity and condition of the victim. Thereby, the victim was identified as Mr. Tran Xuan Hung (born in 1981), residing in Chau Hung block, Vinh Tan ward, Vinh city. The Criminal Police Department also quickly identified 3 suspects Dinh Van Tuan, Hoang Van Hien, and Ho Sy Bang related to the shooting.

Investigators and detectives of the Criminal Police Department on one hand influenced relatives to call on the subjects to surrender, on the other hand divided into many groups to block the route and border gates such as Thanh Thuy, Nam Can (Nghe An) and Cau Treo (Ha Tinh) to intercept the subjects in case they escaped to Laos.

Knowing that it would be difficult to escape, at 11:00 a.m. on August 27, Dinh Van Tuan went to the provincial police station to surrender. That same afternoon, Ho Sy Bang and Hoang Van Hien also surrendered.

“Talking” with guns

The suspects quickly confessed: On the evening of August 26, Tuan, Bang and Hien invited each other to Thanh Ha coffee shop in Hamlet 5, Hung Chau commune to play. At that time, Mr. Tran Xuan Hung was present at the shop and was also watching the billiards game. While watching, Mr. Hung had a sudden conflict with this group of suspects.

The victim was identified as Tran Xuan Hung (born 1981), residing in Chau Hung block, Vinh Tan ward, Vinh city.

Relying on his territory and the larger crowd, Tien immediately ran to the car, took a stick about 40 - 50 cm long, and jumped in to beat Hung. At the same time, Bang grabbed a chair in the shop and rushed in to beat Hung. After Hung was knocked down, Tuan pulled a gun from his pocket and shot the victim in the head. The incident happened so quickly that the people present did not have time to intervene. After committing the crime, the subjects quickly got in the car and escaped from the scene.

By noon the next day, being pursued by the police, knowing that they could not escape the crime, the three subjects went to the investigation agency to surrender; at the same time, they handed over the murder weapon, which included a gun, a three-section stick, and a flashlight.

Currently, the Provincial Police Department's Criminal Police Department has transferred the gun to a professional unit for appraisal, completed the file, initiated prosecution to investigate and expand the case.
