According to market research firm NPD Group, the number of backup batteries sold at retail systems in the US has increased dramatically recently. Specifically, sales of this accessory increased by 101% in the period from July 10 last year to July 23 this year. If only counting June when Pokemon had not yet been released, the growth rate was recorded at about 35%.
Other figures also show that in the six weeks before Pokemon Go officially launched, US states saw a mere 4% increase in sales. However, in the two weeks after the game appeared, retailers immediately sold an additional 1.2 million backup batteries.
