Singapore Prime Minister faints on live TV

Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong lost his balance on stage and suddenly collapsed while delivering an important speech broadcast live on television on the evening of August 21.

At around 9:20 p.m., Mr. Lee was speaking when he suddenly turned pale and fainted. At that moment, the camera stopped recording the Singaporean Prime Minister and turned to the hall. Many people in the audience were worried when witnessing the incident, according to the BBC.

The live broadcast had to be paused while the medical team examined him. Before entering, he waved to everyone.

Mr. Lee Hsien Loong was helped inside after fainting while speaking on television.

A statement from the Singapore Prime Minister's Office said Mr Lee was "staggering from standing for too long, hot and dehydrated" but his heart condition was stable and he did not suffer a stroke.

At 10:40 p.m., the Singaporean Prime Minister returned to the stage.

"Thank you all for waiting for me. I made you worry. The last time I was in a situation like this was at the parade square in Safti. I fainted. I think that's what happened," Mr. Lee said. "I've never had so many doctors around me. They think I'm fine but I'm still going for a full check-up."

Last year, the Singaporean Prime Minister underwent surgery for prostate cancer. In 1992, Mr. Lee was diagnosed with lymphoma but was cancer-free in April 2013 after successful chemotherapy.
