Khanh Ly returns to sing in Da Lat after more than 50 years

The music night 'Come Closer Together' is an opportunity for the female singer to reminisce about her fateful meeting with the late musician Trinh Cong Son in the land of dreams.

Around the end of August, famous singer Khanh Ly will return home to prepare for her first concert in Da Lat after nearly half a century away from this place.In the program, Khanh Ly plans to perform about 30 songs associated with her name and the late musician Trinh Cong Son, especially thosesong Da Vanghas entered the hearts of many generations of audiences.

The concert took place on September 3 at Tuyen Lam Lake. In addition to Khanh Ly, the program also featured three guest artists: famous singers Anh Khoa, Le Thu and Quang Thanh. In addition to singing, Khanh Ly spent time chatting and interacting with the audience about her memories of Da Lat and Trinh Cong Son.

From the US, Khanh Ly shared that she devoted all her emotions to the upcoming concert. "At this age, I participate in many programs because I want to find more funds to help the poor and those in unfortunate circumstances. Each of my singing sessions in my hometown is an activity within the series of programs 'Circle of Compassion' initiated by me and my companion - singer Quang Thanh. We go to many places, sing and tell stories about our musical journey as well as participate in charity activities. That is the biggest reason for me to return to the country," Khanh Ly said.

Returning to the country to sing and doing charity work are two parallel activities that Khanh Ly always keeps in mind, as her late husband advised: "Just come to the less fortunate, you will find happiness."

Since returning after nearly half a century away from domestic audiences, Khanh Ly has sung in many places such as: Hue, Hanoi, Da Nang, Can Tho... But with Da Lat and Saigon - two places of beautiful memories of her vibrant singing days, Khanh Ly still missed her appointment with the audience.

For the female singer, Da Lat is the resting place of a wandering soul, a life as adventurous as the clouds, encapsulating her entire youth. Khanh Ly once said that her childhood and youth were spent feeling abandoned by her family. At that time, Da Lat was a tolerant place, welcoming her with open arms to her singing career. The friendship, love for nature of the foggy land and the close relationship with Trinh Cong Son here contributed significantly to shaping the personality of the female singer throughout the long journey that followed.

Khanh Ly first came to Da Lat in 1956, when she and her mother followed her stepfather to live and work here. Three years later, she returned to Saigon. In 1962, at the age of twenty, the singer once again came to live in Da Lat to pursue her singing career. After 5 years of living in this city, for Khanh Ly, every corner, atmosphere and people here became a part of her memories with many unforgettable happy and sad emotions.
