Mirror reported that JJ the lobster was named after British heavyweight boxer Joe Joyce, who won a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics. Currently, JJ lives at the National Marine Park in Plymouth.

Weighing in at 7.65kg, JJ is the heaviest lobster found in the UK since 1931. Joe Pike, a free diver, found JJ in Lannacombe Beach in north Devon in early August and took him to the marine park.

Because JJ was left out in the water for a long time, the staffPlymouth SoundThe lobster is being carefully cared for so it can recover quickly. Once fully recovered, it will be transferred to the Eddystone Reef exhibit with other natural marine species.

"It's difficult to estimate the age of European lobsters, especially at this size, as the number of molts and their growth depends on many factors. However, we estimate he is between 50 and 70 years old. The staff here are looking after JJ very carefully and we are delighted he is making a full recovery," said James Wright, curator of the National Marine Park.

The European lobster or Western lobster (Homarus gammarus) is a clawed lobster found in the eastern Atlantic, Mediterranean and some parts of the Black Sea. It is easily distinguished by its dark blue body and the difference in size between its two large claws, one for cutting and one for crushing.

Previously, the largest Western lobster in Europe was found in Fowey, Cornwall, England in 1931, weighing more than 9 kg and measuring more than 120 cm long.
