Youth Union Secretary commits suicide by drinking pesticide

A ward Youth Union Secretary in Can Tho City was recently discovered committing suicide by drinking pesticide at his office.

On September 1, Mr. Tran Hoang Tuan - Chairman of Tan An Ward People's Committee (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) confirmed the information that Mr. Do Ngoc Trong (34 years old) - Secretary of the ward's Youth Union had just committed suicide by drinking pesticide right at the office.

Mr. Tr is being treated at Can Tho General Hospital.

According to initial information, yesterday morning, Mr. Trong went to work as usual. At around 10am the same day, a colleague came to Trong's office and found the door locked from the inside. After calling him many times without getting through, he thought something was wrong.

This colleague shouted and everyone broke open the door and discovered Mr. Trong lying next to a bottle of pesticide. Everyone quickly took Mr. Trong to Can Tho General Hospital for emergency treatment.

At the hospital, Mr. Trong was actively resuscitated, had his stomach washed, and was detoxified. By this afternoon, Mr. Trong's health was temporarily stable.

Mr. Tuan said that Mr. Trong has a wife and two children. Up until now, Mr. Trong has been completely normal, living in harmony with friends and colleagues. Before the incident happened, Mr. Trong had attended a meeting of the Youth Union in the residential area.
