According to Global News, the three-meter-long monster has been considered a local legend for more than 40 years due to its massive size and strangely swollen pink nose. Nick McCabe, a 19-year-old guide, caught the sturgeon on August 23.

The giant fish is believed to be around 80 years old, based on its size. "Its name is Pink Nose and you can see why. Its nose was destroyed 40 years ago," said Jeff Grimolfson, McCabe's colleague at fishing tour company River Monster Adventures.

Although the sturgeon had been tagged and microchipped, no local fisherman had been able to catch it. McCabe waited two hours for the fish to bite. McCabe and his group of tourists posed for photos with the sturgeon before releasing it back into the water.
