New life in the revolutionary homeland

(Baonghean.vn) - The changes in the revolutionary tradition-rich countryside of Mon Son further affirm and multiply the people's trust in the leadership of the Party, State and local authorities.

The border commune of Mon Son, Con Cuong is considered the "red thread" in the revolutionary movement of the 1930-1931 period associated with the establishment of the first party cell of ethnic minorities in the Southwest of Nghe An. Promoting the revolutionary tradition, the Party Committee, government and people of Mon Son relied on potential advantages and promoted the spirit of hard work to create a change in all fields.

Identifying agriculture as the spearhead in economic development, the Commune Party Committee mobilized people to change the crop structure to suit local conditions. At the same time, mobilized people to apply scientific and technological advances in production to bring high economic value. Typically, the Thai Hoa village Party cell directed people to boldly convert over 11 hectares of ineffective land to grow sugarcane. Initially, people in the village were skeptical and somewhat did not support the policy of converting sugarcane, but after the Party cell explained, and there was a support mechanism for seeds, fertilizers, and techniques from the Lam River Sugar Factory, the households were somewhat more assured. In particular, party members who played a pioneering role such as Lo Van Tu, Vi Van Hai, and Vi Van Hung did it first for the households to follow.

The model of converting 11 hectares of corn land to sugarcane is proving effective.

Comrade Lo Thi Muoi - Secretary of Thai Hoa village Party cell shared: "We have persistently mobilized through village meetings, then went to each household to propagate and mobilize, and today we have succeeded. We consider this as a poverty reduction revolution of Thai Hoa village".

Along with the conversion of crop structure, Mon Son is currently promoting the conservation of folk music and musical instrument clubs and restoring some unique customs to attract visitors and develop community tourism. Eco-tourism destinations associated with community tourism, cultural and historical tourist destinations such as Pha Lai dam, cruise on Giang river, visiting brocade craft villages, revolutionary relics of Vi Van Khang's house... are strengths that Mon Son commune focuses on investing in and exploiting.

Thanks to the application of science and technology, the introduction of hybrid rice varieties into production, combined with the favorable irrigation dam system, Muong Qua field is always considered the rice granary of Con Cuong district, with a yield of 60-65 quintals/ha.

In the revolutionary homeland of Mon Son today, many projects serving economic development and social life, many spacious houses of the people have been newly built, many roads have been concreted running throughout the villages and hamlets. In the national target program on new rural construction, the people of all ethnic groups in Mon Son commune have voluntarily donated land and contributed working days to build rural and intra-field roads. The movement of the whole people to unite to build a cultural life has brought about practical results. The whole commune has 7/14 cultural villages, over 1,000 families recognized as cultural families, the cultural, artistic and sports movements have been promoted; 6/6 schools in the area have met standards, accounting for the highest rate of schools meeting standards in the district.

Pha Lai Dam and Giang River cruise are attractive tourist destinations attracting many tourists.

Comrade Vi Van Nam - Secretary of the Party Committee of Mon Son commune said: "In the coming time, promoting the revolutionary tradition of the past and the spirit of building a new life today, the commune will continue to focus on converting crop and livestock varieties with high economic value, suitable to the actual conditions of the locality, thereby actively improving the living standards of ethnic minorities, reducing the number of poor households, becoming a bright spot of the Western region of Nghe An".
