Introducing the Chevening Master's Scholarship

Attending the presentation were Mr. Nguyen Hai Duong - Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs; and representatives from departments, agencies, and organizations interested in the Chevening scholarship program in Nghe An province.

Representing the United Kingdom was Mr. Graham Knight, Head of Political Section, British Embassy in Hanoi.

A general overview of the working session.

The Chevening Scholarship is for one-year postgraduate courses, funded by the UK Foreign and Foreign Office and several other agencies, and is available to applicants from 160 countries worldwide. Approximately 30 Vietnamese people receive this scholarship each year.

This scholarship is for candidates who aspire to become leaders within the next 5-10 years. Selection criteria include citizens of selected countries, a university degree, at least two years of work experience in their home country, and no prior study in the UK. Applicants must also possess a certain level of English proficiency.

Graham Knight introduced the Chevening Scholarship program.

The Chevening Scholarship provides £25,000 per person per year (equivalent to $33,000 USD), covering tuition fees, accommodation, return airfare, travel expenses within the UK, and other allowances.

Scholarship recipients not only have the opportunity to study in a professional, multicultural environment but also to interact with famous people and advance their careers. Historically, the scholarship has primarily been awarded to applicants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. However, the British Embassy now wishes to expand its recruitment to all regions of Vietnam and hopes that many applicants from Nghe An will be interested in and receive the Chevening scholarship.
