Introducing Chevening Masters Scholarships

Attending the introduction session were Mr. Nguyen Hai Duong - Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs; representatives of departments, branches, agencies, units and organizations interested in the Chevening scholarship program in Nghe An province.
On the UK side, there was Mr. Graham Knight - Head of Political Section, British Embassy in Hanoi.

Chevening scholarships are for one-year postgraduate courses, funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office and a number of other agencies and are available to applicants in 160 countries around the world. Each year, about 30 Vietnamese people receive this scholarship.
The scholarships are for candidates who aspire to become leaders in the next 5-10 years. The criteria for selecting candidates are that they are citizens of selected countries, have graduated from university, have at least 2 years of work experience in their home country and have not previously studied in the UK. Candidates must have a certain level of English.

Chevening scholarships cover £25,000 per person per year (equivalent to $33,000), including tuition fees, accommodation, return airfare, travel costs within the UK and other allowances.
Scholarship holders not only have the opportunity to study in a professional, multicultural environment but also can meet famous people and develop their careers smoothly. Up to now, the scholarship has been mainly for candidates in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, the British Embassy wants to expand the recruitment of candidates in all regions of Vietnam and hopes that many candidates in Nghe An will be interested in and receive the Chevening scholarship.
