Self-criticism and criticism must be sincere and frank.

(Baonghean) -Self-criticism and criticism are among the important issues of Resolution 4 of the Central Committee (11th tenure). Regarding this issue, Nghe An newspaper would like to quote some opinions of retired Party members who are former leaders of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee.

Comrade Bach Hung Dao (Former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee):It is necessary to focus on reviewing and clarifying the responsibilities of the collective and individuals.

Implementing the Resolution of the 4th Central Committee (11th tenure) "Some urgent issues on Party building at present", the Politburo and the Secretariat spent 16 days reviewing the collective and individuals. With a serious and frank spirit, the Politburo and the Secretariat promoted sincere self-criticism and criticism. In order to achieve good results in self-criticism and criticism at the local level, in my opinion, we need to learn from the experience of the Politburo and the Secretariat. That is to prepare carefully and well the collective review of the Standing Committee and the review of each comrade in the Standing Committee. The review of the collective as well as the individual must be truly receptive, accepting the opinions of organizations and individuals, the issues that public opinion reflects, not following public opinion but also not disregarding public opinion. Social opinion must be carefully handled to avoid causing suspicion among the people.

Self-criticism must have the courage of a communist, daring to speak frankly about one's shortcomings, not afraid of discipline, not afraid of criticism. Criticism must also be courageous, not afraid of prejudice, not afraid of persecution. Criticism is not "looking for a needle in a haystack" but must sincerely point out advantages and disadvantages, clearly stating objective and subjective causes. Criticism must be reasonable and emotional: reason is the Party's principle, and emotion is comradely love, human love.

In the process of managing and monitoring party members, as leaders, we must know the strengths and weaknesses of each person, and from there, suggest key cadres of sectors and districts to prepare for good self-criticism... I do not dare to expect that this review will solve all the problems, but at least it must solve the basic problems of ethics and lifestyle of cadres and party members. In my opinion, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee needs to focus on reviewing the responsibilities of relevant collectives and individuals regarding a number of issues that are currently of public concern, such as: management of natural resources and environment; surrounding the management of land projects, compensation for site clearance, and resettlement issues. Reviewing cadre work. Issues of planning, training, fostering, and using cadres, implementing the principle of democratic centralism in cadre work.

Comrade Tran Van Nghi(Former Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Committee, former Chairman of the Provincial People's Council):Good self-criticism begets good criticism.

I believe that this is a broad political activity within the Party to contribute to preventing shortcomings and deviations of cadres and Party members. I believe that the provincial leaders have the courage to self-criticize and criticize to correct shortcomings. The comments of veteran cadres and grassroots organizations are extremely important, but the collective and individual leaders must be truly self-aware and open-minded to seriously review, self-criticize, and criticize, especially regarding the moral qualities of cadres. The important thing is that self-criticism must be done well, only with good self-criticism can there be good criticism, because the individual himself must clearly and frankly state his strengths and weaknesses, then others will give sincere and open comments, based on comradeship. Self-criticism and criticism are closely linked, but self-criticism is the decisive factor. It is necessary to fight against individualism, narrow-mindedness, opportunism, and the use of self-criticism and criticism to discredit each other.

Regarding personnel work, in my opinion, to do it well, leaders must listen to their staff, and leaders must be very clear-minded. Staff agencies must be objective and have their own opinions. Leaders must be impartial. The quality of cadres is a factor that ensures internal solidarity.
