Providing assistance in building houses and giving gifts to victims of Agent Orange.
(Baonghean.vn) - To commemorate the 52nd anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam, on the morning of August 8th, the Association of Agent Orange Victims in Vinh City organized a gift-giving ceremony and honored Agent Orange victims who have studied and followed Ho Chi Minh's ideology and ethics.
Currently, in Vinh City, there are 3,250 people exposed to chemical toxins, of which 987 have received benefits. To help Agent Orange victims overcome illness and alleviate the suffering caused by Agent Orange, the Vinh City Association of Agent Orange Victims has donated 90 million VND to four victim families in Hung Chinh, Hung Hoa, and Nghi Lien communes to build new houses, bringing the total number of houses supported by the association to 30.
On this occasion, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange in the city also presented its 20th cow to Mr. Tran Van Lan, residing in Hamlet 6, Hung Chinh Commune; awarded 4 scholarships to children of victims who overcame difficulties and excelled in their studies; and provided 4 grants for medical treatment and production development, each grant worth 2 million VND. Simultaneously, 150 gift packages were distributed to victims with particularly difficult circumstances in the city.
At the commemoration ceremony, the City's Association of Agent Orange Victims honored 10 individuals who are exemplary Agent Orange victims and grassroots association officials, who have overcome the pain of Agent Orange, strived and persevered in life, and always followed Uncle Ho's words: "Disabled but not useless."
