Mr. Choe Ryong Hae is currently holding the position of Director of the Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army. KCNA did not specify the content and purpose of the visit.
Mr. Choe Ryong Hae visited China in the context of North Korea last week continuously launching short-range missiles into the East Sea. Although the US and its regional allies continue to call on North Korea to exercise restraint, the US and its regional allies continue to assess that tensions on the Korean Peninsula remain low after North Korea's missile launches.
Diplomatic activities were also promoted by countries to cool down their own relations with North Korea as well as find solutions to the situation across the Korean Peninsula.
Last week, an advisor to the Japanese Prime Minister also visited North Korea. Meanwhile, China on May 21 also confirmed that President Xi Jinping will visit the US in early June and will discuss with President B. Obama, including the issue of the Korean Peninsula./.
