On February 20, the National Traffic Safety Committee said: During the 6-day Lunar New Year holiday, from February 15 to February 19, 275 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, killing 164 people and injuring 237 others., compared to the same period during the Lunar New Year of Giap Ngo (2014), the number of accidents decreased by 14 cases and 76 injured people, but the number of deaths increased by 29. On February 19 alone (the first day of Tet), there were 50 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 19 people and injuring 53 people, a sharp decrease in the number of accidents (16 cases), the number of injured people (42 people), but an increase in the number of deaths (2 people) compared to the first day of the Lunar New Year of Giap Ngo.
On February 19, the national traffic police force inspected and handled more than 4,400 cases of violations of road and waterway traffic safety, paying the State Treasury 1.5 billion VND; temporarily impounding 66 cars, 879 motorbikes; revoking 136 driving licenses. The traffic order and safety situation on the expressways was ensured to be smooth and safe, with no traffic accidents or serious traffic jams.
