About 60 local residents held a memorial service for the victims in the village of Petropavlivka, where the bodies and personal belongings of passengers on the ill-fated flight MH17 that was shot down in 2014 were found.

Many young people in the village made paper planes to commemorate the children missing in the above air tragedy.

Some relatives of the dead passengers called the villagers of Petropavlivka and asked them to find the remaining belongings and send them to the families of the victims, said Natalia Volochina, head of the village of Petropavlivka.

According to Ms. Natalia, people wanted the families of the victims to be able to attend the memorial service but it seemed that the Ukrainian authorities scared them by telling them that the village was a dangerous area.

Two years have passed, but the villagers of Petropavlivka continue to find pieces of the Boeing 777, flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, which was shot down on July 17, 2014, killing 298 people, in the forests surrounding the village.

Another memorial service was also held on July 17 in the Netherlands, the country with the most citizens killed in the crash.

Regarding the investigation into the cause of the MH17 crash, investigators concluded that the plane was shot down by a Russian-made BUK anti-aircraft missile fired from separatist rebel territory.

Faced with the above accusation, the rebels denied responsibility and argued that the Ukrainian military also possesses this type of missile./.
