The play 'Waves Rising in a Countryside' won the National Gold Medal

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of September 5, the Center for Preservation and Promotion of Nghe An Folk Heritage held a closing ceremony for the 2016 National Professional Tuong and Folk Drama Art Competition.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Pham Tien Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and representatives of relevant departments and offices.

At the 2016 National Professional Tuong and Folk Drama Competition held in Da Nang from August 19 to August 30, 2016, with the participation of nearly 700 artists and actors from 11 traditional theater art units nationwide, there were 17 plays, including 10 Tuong plays and 7 folk drama plays.

Coming to the competition, the Center for Preservation and Promotion of Nghe An Folk Heritage participated in two plays, including: "Waves rising in a rural area" (theme of new rural construction) and "Teacher and student" (theme of education), with the participation of 60 actors and musicians.

Notably, the play “Waves Rising in the Countryside” won the national Gold Medal. Accordingly, 3 individuals participating in the performance were awarded gold medals, including: Meritorious Artist Minh Tue (in the role of Bach Duc Ham), Artist Thanh Vinh (in the role of Ha Minh), Artist Viet Anh (in the role of Thu); 2 individuals were awarded silver medals including Artist Minh Thanh (Party Secretary), Meritorious Artist Que Chung (in the role of Thu's father).

Along with that, the play "Teacher and Student" also had 3 individuals receiving gold medals, including artists: An Ninh (as the principal), Artist Duc Lan (as the vice principal), Artist Thien Hue (as the female student Nhung); 3 individuals receiving silver medals, including: Artist Hong Chuyen (as teacher Nhan), Artist Minh Thanh (as teacher Linh), Artist Quang Sang (as teacher Sinh).

In addition, the troupe also has 8 actors who received Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam Stage Artists Association.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Pham Tien Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, highly appreciated the achievements that the Center for Preservation and Promotion of Nghe An Folk Heritage has achieved through the contest. At the same time, he hoped that in the coming time, artists will continue to make efforts to bring the art of Tuong and folk opera closer to the public.
