(Baonghean.vn) – The ancient house is hundreds of years old, and inside there are hundreds of precious antiques that are the result of the dedication and collection of writer and translator Ong Van Tung, making anyone lucky enough to visit it once unable to help but admire and be impressed. It is truly a priceless “museum” in the homeland of Nam Dan.
From the outside, the house that writer-translator Ong Van Tung built in his hometown (Nam Linh, Nam Dan) is as simple and plain as many old rural houses. |
Not many people know that the frame of the house that he painstakingly searched for and bought in a rural area of Nghe An was made of ironwood, built around 1757. |
The carvings on the beams, rafters... of this house are extremely sophisticated. These carvings are often ancient stories such as: fish jumping over the dragon gate, carp transforming into a dragon, returning home in glory to pay respect to ancestors... Because of these carvings, people know that this could be the house of a high-ranking mandarin of the ancient court. |
The rosewood bed, cupboard, horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences... in the house are also the result of the dedication and collection over several decades of the owner, the famous writer and translator Mr. Van Tung. |

The bamboo bed is hundreds of years old. |

Unique carvings on bamboo headboard. |
This table and chair set is also made of bamboo and has elaborate, delicate carvings. |

A corner of the writer-translator’s office. Although he lives in Hanoi, his hometown house also has a corner dedicated to reading, working, hanging pictures and precious antiques that he cherishes and values. |
An ancient painting hangs in the writer's working and reading corner. |
There are many paintings, statues... of Mr. Van Tung given by friends, painters, and sculptors that the writer brought back to his "home in the countryside" to keep. |

Like this portrait was given to the writer by famous artist Phan Ke An. |
