Russia accuses US of deliberately 'poisoning' bilateral relations

"The Washington administration is constantly coming up with new restrictions for our diplomats. Russian diplomats are constantly being provoked by the FBI and CIA, which are not afraid to use repressive measures and actively sabotage us not only in the United States but also in third countries," Ms. Zakharova said.

She added: "The Washington Post previously published an article about the harassment that the US side accused us of causing against its diplomats in Russia. This article is superficial and does not reflect the real picture."

The Russian Foreign Ministry representative also noted that one of the leading “experts” mentioned in the Washington Post article is former US Ambassador to Moscow Michael McFaul. In Zakharova’s opinion, the former Ambassador showed “complete lack of professional competence and failed in his diplomatic mission.”

During the press conference, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also mentioned the Brexit issue. According to her, Russia's stance on this issue is very clear. This is an internal issue of the UK, and Russia will have to wait for an official decision from the British government before responding. However, regardless of the UK's future in the EU, Russia will maintain its stance of improving relations with both the UK and the EU./.
