Summer fashion clearance

For nearly a week now, Phuong's fashion store on Le Hong Phong Street, Vinh City has been selling off its summer merchandise. Many dresses, shirts, T-shirts, jeans, handbags, and shoes of all colors, sizes, and materials are displayed on the sidewalk. All kinds of shirts, skirts, shorts, and summer shoes are sold at the same price of 100,000 VND/piece; jeans, dresses, and dress sets are priced at 200,000 VND/piece, so they have attracted many customers to come and buy.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien in Hung Binh ward said: "I have come here several times before to look at things, I saw many things I liked but the price was 500-600 thousand/item so I didn't buy them. Today, they took advantage of the clearance sale, it was only 100-200 thousand so I chose to buy a few things."

Shop owner Ho Thi Hang said: "The dry season is over now, so our shop is selling all the summer fashion in stock to prepare for importing fall and winter goods to sell. Although the prices are cheap, we can still salvage a little bit. If we leave it until next summer, the goods will be old and out of fashion, making it difficult to sell. The shop is also cramped and there is no place to store them."

Currently, in Vinh city, there are many streets selling clothing from high-end to popular fashion. The number of stores growing more and more exceeds the shopping needs of the people, so many stores are having difficulties in business. Unsold goods and a lot of unsold goods, so at the time of changing seasons, they have to lower prices and sell off to clear out the inventory. Besides the stores that hang signs of price reduction to clear out the inventory, there are also many stores that, even though they have reduced prices, the prices are still profitable for the store owners.

The owner of the shop named Hien on Nguyen Van Cu street said that he thought he could sell it because his family invested more than 200 million VND in capital here. The goods were taken from the border gate, but sales were very slow, so he had to lower the price to prepare to liquidate the shop.

Along the fashion business streets in Vinh city, it is easy to see bright red banners with Vietnamese or English words such as: "Shocking discount"; 50% discount, 30% discount; Super discount; Sale of; Big Sale; summer clearance, products with the same price of 50-100k... to attract customers. However, because there are too many stores hanging discount signs at the same time, the situation of unsold summer goods when the weather has turned to autumn continues.

At famous Vietnamese fashion brands, despite the discounts, customers find it difficult to choose the items they like and the prices are still over 500,000 VND/item. Fashion stores on Nguyen Van Cu, Dang Thai Than, Hong Bang, Le Loi streets... all hung signs with 30-50% discounts, but only a few customers came in to look at the items and then left, few people bought. At Thu Giang fashion store on Nguyen Van Cu street, despite hanging a sign with shocking discounts, the price of each shirt and dress is still 300-500 thousand VND. Sales staff here said that the store only sells about 5-10 products per day.

Shop owners said that because the dry season is over, there is still a lot of summer fashion left, so they have to reduce prices by 50% to clear out some inventory and get capital to prepare for autumn and winter imports.

Shoes are also discounted on Le Hong Phong Street.

Discounted items are often old and out of fashion. Therefore, consumers, especially women, should consider and be smart when buying discounted items because they may buy them but not use them, causing waste. Discounted items cannot be returned or exchanged, so there are items that are bought but not used, which are more expensive than buying them at full price.
