An Giang Provincial Party Secretary offers incense at Truong Bon Relic Site

(Baonghean.vn) - During a visit and work in Nghe An, on the afternoon of September 8, a delegation of An Giang province officials led by comrade Vo Thi Anh Xuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee visited Truong Bon Historical Relic Site.

Accompanying the delegation, on the side of An Giang province, there was also comrade Nguyen Thanh Binh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee Office; Provincial People's Committee Office; Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of a number of provincial departments and branches.

Truong Bon - a place that has become a legend, a heroic and immortal relic marking the heroic feats and sacrifices of our army and people in the great national defense struggle of our nation in the 20th century.

During the fierce war years of the resistance war against the US to save the country, on the strategic route 15A - the only road Truong Bon was the place connecting the traffic arteries of the great rear of the North to support human and material resources for the battlefield in the South.

Discovering the strategic location of Truong Bon, from 1964 to 1968, the US imperialists frantically bombed it with nearly 20,000 bombs of all kinds and tens of thousands of missiles, in an attempt to cut off our traffic arteries.

In the "confrontation" with the bombs and bullets of the American enemy at the "Fire Coordinate" Truong Bon, more than 1,500 officers and soldiers of 9 Youth Volunteer Companies, belonging to the Youth Volunteer Team against the US to save the country in Nghe An province, together with the forces of our army and people, day and night held out and fought tenaciously with courage; with an iron will and determination: "The heart can stop beating - but the road cannot be blocked" and achieved feats and miracles, creating the victory of Truong Bon.

In this life-and-death battle, thousands of cadres, soldiers, youth volunteers, transport workers, and militiamen were injured; 1,240 cadres and soldiers fought bravely and heroically sacrificed themselves. Especially the heroic feats and sacrifices on October 31, 1968 of 13 youth volunteers of the heroic “Suicide Squad” and “Steel Squad” of Youth Volunteer Company 317.

Before the heroic martyrs, the delegation respectfully offered fresh flowers and incense to commemorate and express their respect, admiration and deep gratitude to you, the heroes who “died for the Fatherland”. Your life and career will forever be a shining example for today’s and future generations to learn and follow.

On this occasion, Comrade Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee, together with the delegation, presented the Barringtonia acutangula tree to the relic site, expressing gratitude and concern of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province, contributing and wishing to make Truong Bon more spacious, worthy of the contributions and sacrifices of the heroic martyrs who created the legend of Truong Bon.

Tomorrow, September 9, the delegation of An Giang province will offer incense and flowers at Kim Lien Relic Site, visit the tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan - Uncle Ho's mother, Dai Tue Pagoda and visit some historical relics of Nghe An./.
