Colliding with Container, car carrying 12 people to wedding plunged into abyss

After colliding with a container truck, a passenger car carrying 12 people plunged into a ravine on Highway 6. The accident left one person dead and many seriously injured.

The series of accidents occurred at around 1:30 p.m. on September 8, on National Highway 6, passing through Cun slope, in Cham Mat ward, Hoa Binh city (Hoa Binh province).

Witness Mr. Son said the passenger bus with a Son La province license plate was traveling down Cun slope from Hoa Binh to Hanoi.

At the beginning of the Hoa Binh City bypass, this car collided with another car, causing both vehicles to stop. At this time, the container truck traveling in the same direction from the top of the slope continued to crash, pushing the passenger bus down the roadside cliff.

“When I arrived, the bus was already at the bottom of the cliff. There were still some people on the bus because the others had gotten off when the first collision happened,” said Mr. Son.

While helping passersby rescue the victims from the car, Mr. Son was told by a guest that they were on their way to a wedding when the accident happened.

Among the injured, one person was almost unconscious with multiple injuries. At the scene, there were 4 cars colliding with each other, the vehicles were deformed, the passenger bus was severely damaged.

Mr. Bui Van Thang (Director of the Department of Transport of Hoa Binh province) said that according to initial reports from the rescue team, one person in the passenger bus died and many others were injured.

According to the Department Director, at 4:30 p.m. the same day, the authorities continued to examine the scene and take the seriously injured victims to Hanoi for treatment.
