'Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh deceived both the Party and the government, must be expelled from the Party'

Officials, Party members and people of the Mekong Delta provinces support the proposal to expel Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh from the Party.

After the Central Inspection Commission concluded and proposed that the Secretariat discipline Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh by expelling him from the Party, Party members and people in the Mekong Delta region welcomed, supported and affirmed that the expulsion of Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh from the Party demonstrated the Party's strictness in dealing with the violations of Party members and cadres, thereby promoting the fighting spirit within the Party and setting an example for other Party members and cadres.

We hope that the Party, the National Assembly, and the Government will clarify the case of Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh to help public opinion and people see clearly the wisdom of the Party and the State, and strengthen people's trust in the Party and the State."

Mr. Pham Thanh Can in Tan Tien commune, Vi Thanh city, Hau Giang province said: Our Party is currently determined to fight against negativity to clean up the internal cadres, for the country to develop. Regarding the case of Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh, after the direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Central Organizing Committee, the Central Inspection Committee and the relevant agencies quickly took action to clarify his violations.

“We must definitely expel Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh from the Party because transferring corrupt officials to other places is still corrupt. I think we must handle it thoroughly to create trust for the people,” said Mr. Pham Thanh Can.

Mr. Phan Quoc Nam, a party member in Tra Vinh city, Tra Vinh province, said that expelling Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh from the Party was reasonable, because it was clear that Mr. Thanh had deceived both the Party and the Government, causing serious loss of state assets.

“In my opinion, Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh, since he was a leader in the oil and gas industry, has committed violations that caused thousands of billions in losses, but why was he proposed to be recognized as a Labor Hero, promoted to a position, and promoted to the Ministry… he is not worthy of being a Party member. That is to deceive the Party, deceive the government, bribe and seek to climb up the ladder beyond his ability, against the law and Party regulations. Therefore, if he is expelled from the Party, in my opinion, it is appropriate,” Mr. Pham Quoc Nam said frankly.

As reported, from September 6 to 8, in Hanoi, the Central Inspection Committee held its 6th session. At this session, the Central Inspection Committee proposed that the Secretariat take disciplinary action by expelling Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh from the Party.

On the same day, Mr. Le Cong Ly - Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office and Spokesperson of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee signed Official Dispatch No. 137-TB/VPTU dated September 8, 2016 announcing a number of contents related to Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh, Provincial Party Committee member, former Vice Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee for the 2011-2016 term. The dispatch clearly stated: By September 8, 2016, the Provincial Party Committee Office had received a document from Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh sent to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee (the document was photocopied and sent by post).

According to the document, Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh explained a number of issues related to himself raised by the Inspection Delegation of the Central Inspection Commission, and at the same time expressed his wish to leave the Party. Thus, up to now (September 8, 2016), the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee has received Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh's application to leave the Provincial Party Executive Committee and the Party. At the same time, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee has issued an Official Dispatch summoning Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh to report on the above issues./.
