The Syrian government violated the ceasefire.
(Baonghean.vn) - The United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, accused the Syrian government of failing to send a letter authorizing the UN to transport aid to besieged areas in the country. According to him, this constitutes a violation of the ceasefire brokered by Russia and the United States.

The UN envoy for Syria also said that the Syrian government and opposition fighters have blocked the delivery of humanitarian aid to eastern Aleppo.
The delivery of humanitarian aid is a prerequisite for maintaining the current ceasefire and will boost the joint Russian-American campaign against terrorist groups in Syria.
Mr. de Mistura stated that Moscow was very disappointed that the Syrian government had not approved the shipment of humanitarian aid.

According to Mr. de Mistura, hundreds of trucks are now ready to transport aid, and an opportunity to deliver aid and help reinforce the ceasefire has been missed. The United Nations says its aid trucks cannot pass through checkpoints without permission from the Damascus government.
Mr. de Mistura has called on the Damascus government to allow aid shipments into the country “immediately” to provide essential supplies to people in besieged and hard-to-reach areas.
