This is the conclusion made in a public opinion poll conducted by Gallup and published on September 14, raising concerns about the quality and reliability of news provided by the American media.

The survey was conducted by telephone from September 7-11 with the participation of 1,020 people.

The results showed that the media today does not have much trust from the American public, according to which only 32% of respondents said "Yes" when asked whether the media news is "full, accurate and fair".

This is 8% lower than last year and the lowest in Gallup's polling history on the issue.

Trust in the media among young people has also declined sharply, with only 26% of respondents aged 18-49 expressing trust, compared to 38% of those over 50.

Assessing this issue, Gallup said that the White House race could be one of the main reasons for the decline in trust in the media this year.

Accordingly, many Republican Party leaders and conservative critics believe that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has received too much favor from the media, while Republican Party representative Donald Trump has been given negative and unfair information.

This may be the leading cause of Republican lawmakers' already fragile trust in the media even "disappearing."

In addition, the criticism that the press has directed at the real estate tycoon has also affected public opinion. Accordingly, only 14% of Republican voters expressed trust in the mass media, a sharp decrease compared to 32% last year and the lowest level in the past 20 years among this party's voters.

On the Democratic side, 51% of voters expressed confidence in the media, down 4% from last year, while the number among independents fell from 33% in 2015 to 30%.

Gallup began asking questions about trust in news products and the media in 1972. Trust among Americans peaked in 1976 when 72% of respondents said they had a great deal of trust in the media, compared to just 26% who said "no."
