Yen Thanh: Officials compete with farmers in winter crop season.

(Baonghean.vn) - 100% of cadres, Party members, civil servants, and part-time officials in Lien Thanh commune have gone to the fields to work on the winter crop with the motto "cadres and Party members lead the way and set an example; each person plants at least one sao (approximately 1000 square meters) of corn".

Over two days (September 17th and 18th), the Party Committee and People's Committee of Lien Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, mobilized officials and civil servants to work alongside local people in planting winter crops after the recent floods.

Officials and Party members of Lien Thanh commune, along with farmers, went to the fields to plant winter crops.

To speed up progress, the local authorities mobilized machinery for tilling the land, making furrows, and transporting fertilizers and other supplies directly to the fields; officials competed with farmers in the winter crop season with high determination.

Specifically for corn, in addition to applying intensive farming techniques correctly, the sowing and planting areas are always covered with straw or rice husks to prevent erosion and leaching during floods, and to limit weed growth during the corn plant's development.

Thirteen hamlets in Lien Thanh commune are striving to complete the planting of over 50 hectares of corn on double-cropped rice land by September 20th, after which they will focus on producing commercial vegetables and crops to increase income per unit area.

Cadres working alongside farmers on the winter crop season is a good model that should be encouraged and replicated to boost the winter crop production movement.
