Professor Nguyen Lan Dung: Ozone generator is no different from potassium permanganate

According to Professor Nguyen Lan Dung, ozone sterilizers do not have the ability to kill chemicals as advertised by manufacturers, but only kill germs, non-spore bacteria, and spore fungi. As for bacteria with spores, ozone machines have no effect.

Ozone is just like potassium permanganate.

According to Professor Dung, ozone has an oxidizing effect similar to that of potassium permanganate. As for pesticides, once they get into vegetable leaves, they will immediately transform into cellular products, so how can they be easily removed?

Compared to ozone machines, Professor Nguyen Lan Dung said, potassium permanganate is much cheaper and has been studied to kill at least some bacteria, but has no effect on worm eggs, not to mention pesticides.

Not only that, every year we Vietnamese import more than 100 thousand tons of 4,100 pesticide brands from China, including 1,600 different chemicals, so it is impossible to know what they are. Therefore, if we use ozone, it will have no effect at all.

Professor Dung said his family has not used an ozone machine since the old days. Although the food safety problem in Vietnam is increasingly alarming, we should not rely on products advertised as antibacterial and chemical disinfectants. Each product has only one effect and cannot be generalized for everyone.

According to Professor Nguyen Lan Dung, his family never uses food cleaning machines but uses clean vegetables with clear origins. Specifically, his family has a nephew who grows clean vegetables and often gives them to use. As for pork, Professor Dung buys clean pork from the farm he used to help in Ba Vi.

In addition, according to Professor Dung, we should use food that ensures its origin, source, and ingredients. At the same time, people should eat vegetables that are free of worms such as bean sprouts or sprouts... eat fruits according to the season instead of spending money on buying an ozone generator without knowing its real effects.

Just a psychological step

Associate Professor Tran Hong Con - Lecturer of Chemistry Department, University of Natural Sciences, Hanoi also said that ozone machines used in households cannot clean chemicals but only solve the psychological problem for people.

Before the dirty food storm, people lost faith in everything, then the ozone machine gave them that, people don't know if it can clean or not but clearly psychologically they feel more secure.

Associate Professor Con said that if ozone is bubbled in a water environment containing chemicals, thanks to the strong oxidizing ability of ozone, it can remove some chemicals and kill bacteria. However, in experiments or advertisements, people use it differently than in households.

In households, people use ozone in normal water, put vegetables, meat, and fruits in it, but it cannot kill germs or chemicals on the surface of those foods. Therefore, the ozone machine becomes useless.

In fact, the toxins and bacteria in vegetables and meat when aerated are less than the organic substances released from meat, vegetables and fruits. In that case, the oxidation of ozone when encountering organic substances will oxidize more strongly instead of going into killing bacteria and chemicals as its original purpose./.

Ozone is a colorless gas. At low concentrations, ozone is odorless but at high concentrations it has a slightly fishy odor. Because it contains three oxygen atoms, ozone is a very reactive gas that can destroy most organic substances, including rubber, plastics and fiberglass.

Except for gold and platinum, other metals such as copper and chromium are very suitable catalysts for ozone explosion at high temperatures. Because of its strong oxidizing reaction, ozone also has the ability to act as a disinfectant and is the most powerful. However, most people use ozone in industrial plants rather than in households.
