Implementing the resolution on 'clean production and business' in Quynh Luu
(Baonghean.vn) - Since 2011, Quynh Luu district has issued many resolutions and topics to propagate and mobilize people to participate in clean production and business, thanks to which the awareness of ensuring food safety and hygiene of production and business households has been significantly raised.
Nowadays, people's demand for fresh and clean food is increasing, however, for economic benefits, some production households and businesses have used dirty and unhygienic foods to prepare dishes that pose a potential risk of toxicity to consumers.
Faced with that situation, Quynh Luu district has thoroughly disseminated to all agencies, units, communes and towns, and at the same time issued documents directing the Party Committee, People's Committees of 33 communes and towns, and related units to closely follow Directive 08-CT/TU to organize implementation at the grassroots level.

Accordingly, every year the district organizes activities in response to the Month of Action on Food Hygiene and Safety; Organizes periodic or surprise inspection teams on food hygiene and safety issues at food production and processing establishments in the area.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nam - Captain of Market Management Team No. 4 of Nghe An, located in Quynh Luu, said: Through surprise inspections, the team discovered 16/23 establishments with signs of violations and imposed administrative fines of 32.7 million VND. In coordination with the District Police, they arrested 5 cases of transporting 1.5 tons of animal organs, 8 cases of transporting animals of unknown origin, destroyed 8,000 poultry and 350 kg of floss of unknown origin.
In addition, the district also focuses on inspecting and granting certificates of food hygiene and safety to 40 food establishments and 21 ham and seafood production and processing establishments. Thanks to that, the awareness of ensuring food hygiene and safety of business households, restaurants and hotels has been raised. In the past 5 years, there have been no serious cases of food or drinking water poisoning in the district.

Ms. Luu Thi Bich Thao - owner of a restaurant providing food services at Quynh Bang beach said: Through the propaganda of the press and the inspections of local departments and agencies, we are aware that the most important service business is hygiene. Especially for food services like ours, when customers come to eat, they always check the kitchen area. If it is clean and tidy, customers will come in large numbers without the need for loud advertising. Therefore, doing a good job of food hygiene and safety will keep customers for a long time.
However, besides the achieved results, the issue of food hygiene and safety in the district still has many shortcomings. The whole district has not built a centralized slaughterhouse for livestock and poultry, many vegetable production areas still have the situation of throwing away pesticide packaging in the wrong place, the situation of using chemicals in preserving aquatic products and the problem of discharging wastewater directly into the sea from restaurants and eateries on the beach still causes public outrage.

Faced with that situation, the District People's Committee has increased inspections of food hygiene and safety at markets and candy stores during holidays; promoted the construction of 5 slaughterhouses for livestock and poultry to ensure hygiene and control diseases; directly worked with coastal communes to focus on handling the discharge of wastewater into the sea and the preservation of fresh seafood by business operators to build and protect the clean, safe and economical Quynh beach tourism brand.
Mr. Ho Ngoc Dung - Vice Chairman of Quynh Luu District People's Committee said: "In the immediate future, it is necessary to strengthen the review and inspection of households and establishments that meet food hygiene and safety standards, then organize the issuance of certificates, on that basis, strictly implement the State's food safety regulations; direct the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Farmers' Association, and Women's Union to coordinate to open more training courses on vegetable production and livestock farming according to VietGAP standards, thereby integrating propaganda content. In particular, it is necessary to persuade people to change their mindset and switch to producing clean and safe products to protect the health of themselves and consumers. |
